No one’s saying there’s anything wrong with the traditional way of ringing in the New Year with dinner and some bubbly. After all, Cleveland’s diverse and varied dining scene is quickly making national headlines for itself. (Plus, there are a ton of restaurants offering great packages.)

But, if you’re looking to celebrate a little more interestingly, check out these unique Cleveland options:

Cleveland Pops’ New Year’s Eve Celebration:

It would be New Year’s Eve in Cleveland without the annual NYE concert and dance by the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. The two-hour performance begins at 9 p.m. and includes an energetic performance by American Idol winner Melinda Doolittle.  She’ll perform everything from Broadway and contemporary pops to jazz and soul. The party continues at Severance Hall with a balloon drop, dancing and dessert until 1 a.m.

Nautica Queen New Year’s Eve Cruise:

You can do dinner and apps just about anywhere on New Year’s Eve. But can you do them while sailing Lake Erie? Probably not unless you’re aboard the Nautica Queen’s New Year’s Eve Cruise happening Dec. 31 from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. This unique evening cruise comes with hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dancing and a champagne toast against the backdrop of the city skyline.

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra:

What happens when metal mixes with Christmas music? Trans-Siberian Orchestra! Or, as fans refer to it, “TSO.” From rock star hair to extreme visual effects, this world-renowned performance group dazzles Quicken Loans Arena on Dec. 31 for performances at 3pm and 9pm.

Walleye Drop in Port Clinton:

When the clock strikes midnight on Jan. 1, 2017, no doubt things start getting rowdy around the world. But, in Port Clinton, located just 60 miles from downtown Cleveland, the town celebrates by dropping a 20-foot-tall, 600-pound fiberglass walleye. Known as the world capital for the walleye fish, this city boasts a plethora of additional offbeat activities throughout the evening.
