Salmon Dave’s: A Cleveland Landmark Lives Up To Their Name - Cleveland Article
We stopped in for dinner recently and knew we picked the right spot immediately upon walking in the door. The staff was quick to greet us and made us feel welcome right away. The bar was filled with locals winding down from their busy day and the air of familiarity helped secure an already welcome feeling!
Salmon Dave’s Has A Reputation for Great Seafood
We’d heard great things about Salmon Dave’s and wanted to see for ourselves. This was well worth the drive west. The menu is an awesome mix of Pacific Rim cuisine and American favorites and changes every couple of months. It is designed to accommodate smaller appetites and larger dinners.
We started with the Ahi Tuna Sashimi. WOW! The wasabi vinaigrette and carrot seaweed salad sent this dish over the top. We’ve had a lot of Ahi Tuna and this one topped the charts!
You would expect a seafood restaurant to serve fabulous Crab Cakes and that is the case at Salmon Dave’s. The Napa Slaw and Honey Mustard combination was perfect and really made these stand out above others.
We were really enjoying the appetizer menu so we continued with the Lobster Rangoons and these were among our favorite of the evening. Stuffed with lobster and served with sesame cucumber salad and sweet chili sauce these Rangoons were exceptional!
Salmon Dave’s Menu Features Variety and Creativity
Salmon Dave’s is best known for their various salmon preparations so we wanted to be sure and try some. First was the Grilled Salmon Salad. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly as you’d expect. The combination of the mixed greens, Gorgonzola, artichokes, bacon and almonds was full of exceptional flavor and a great intro to what was still on the agenda!
We also sampled the Mixed Greens salad which is perfect for a lighter appetite. It was a nice mix of greens, sunflower seeds, cucumber, honey lemon chardonnay dressing and grape tomatoes. Very nice!
Salmon Dave’s Signature Salmon Entrees Are Fabulous!
You can’t dine at Salmon Dave’s without sampling at least one of Dave’s Signature Salmon Dishes! We chose the Seared Soy-Ginger Marinated Salmon. This plate is filled with Salmon, topped with soy onions, basmati rice and julienne vegetables. The various elements came together perfectly and now we know why Salmon Dave’s is called Salmon Dave’s!
The Surf & Turf came with the traditional Filet Mignon medallions and Lobster tail accented with asparagus and mashed potatoes. However, as you would expect by now, the lobster tail was perfectly tender with just the right amount of seasoning. The hot drawn butter brought out the flavor of the lobster tail very well. The filet medallions were a perfect medium, very tender and the veggies were perfect companions.
One of Salmons Dave’s best-known entrees is the Maine Event. This is an amazing presentation and large enough to be shared. Included in this trademark presentation is a whole Maine lobster, ½ of a roasted chicken, steamed clams, redskin potatoes and sweet corn on the cob. It tastes every bit as good as it looks!
We had a great time at Salmon Dave’s and the food was certainly the star of the evening. The vibe and decor of the restaurant really complete the package and we definitely will not wait long for a return visit.
